A Farewell to Rise & Shine Yoga

Jenny Houston | SEP 9, 2026

Hello Beautiful Community,

I have some bittersweet news to share.

After 2+ years and 19 wonderful events, Rise & Shine Yoga is coming to an end.

As Field Hall continues to evaluate its programs and community partnerships, Rise & Shine will now be required to operate under the facility's standard rental structure and associated labour fees. After giving this change careful consideration, I've made the decision not to continue the program under this model.

While I completely understand that Field Hall has operational costs and is working to create a more consistent and sustainable framework for the use of its spaces, this change would fundamentally alter the way Rise & Shine has been offered. The donation-based model and the spirit of accessibility have always been an important part of what made these gatherings so special.

Over the years, we have gathered early in the morning with our mats spread across that beautiful space, welcoming the sun, moving our bodies, breathing together, laughing, resting, and beginning the days in community.

There were familiar faces who returned again and again, and there were people who joined us for the very first time—sometimes for their first yoga class, and sometimes for their first experience inside Field Hall. At times, there were just a couple dozen of us. Other times, more than 50 people filled the room.

And every single time, something special happened.

I want you to know how deeply grateful I am for every person who came, donated what they could, brought a friend, rolled out a mat, and simply showed up exactly as they were. Rise & Shine became what it was because of all of you.

I also want to thank everyone who recently took the time to send me your beautiful messages and reflections. Reading your words reminded me that even something as simple as gathering to move and breathe together can have a ripple effect far beyond what we realize.

Thank you for being a part of this beautiful chapter. It was an honour to share those mornings with you. (And if you've been meaning to join one of these events, I truly wish I had many more opportunities for you.)

While I feel sadness in letting this program go, I'm practicing gratitude and non-attachment. Not everything we create is meant to last forever. Some things arrive at exactly the right time, touch the people they're meant to touch, and then come to a close.

With So Much Love & Gratitude,
Jenny
